Ocuflox generic Ofloxacin helps to treat an eye infection such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers in patients who are one year or older. Ocuflox is Fluoroquinolone antibiotic that impedes eye infection by killing the bacteria.

Mode of action and method of use of Ocuflox 0.3% solution-

It functions by acting on the enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV that stops the excessive supercoiling of DNA during replication or transcription. This arrests normal cell division and prevents the growth of bacteria.

Tilt your head back and instill a drop in eye pouch. Keep your eyes close for some time. Apply pressure in corner of an eye for 1 or 2 minutes. Remove excess solution with tissue paper.

Dosing regimen of Ocuflox 0.3% solution-

For treating bacterial conjunctivitis: Initially, you should instill one to two drops of Ocuflox eye drops every two to four hours in the affected eye. Then after an interval of two days, one to two drops of Ocuflox eye drops four times a day and the therapy is continued for seven days.

For the treatment of bacterial corneal ulcer: On the first two days, instill one to two drops in the affected eyes every 30 minutes, while awake. Then from day 3 to day 9, instill one to two drops hourly, while awake. From days nine through treatment completion, instill one to two drops, four times a day.   

Contraindication with Ocuflox 0.3% solution-

  • Do not use if you have allergies to Ofloxacin.
  • Never use if you are allergic to any other Fluoroquinolone.
  • Do not use this eye drop in pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers without doctor advice.

Warnings and precautions to follow with Ocuflox 0.3% solution-

  • Ocuflox may cause blurred vision so be careful while performing tasks that require good vision.
  • It is not recommended for children who are less than 1 year.
  • Wash your hands before and after use.
  • Remove your contact lens before instilling eye drops.
  • Do not touch the dropper as contamination may occur.
  • Use at the same time each day.

Ill effects with Ocuflox 0.3%

Some after-effects you may observe with Ocuflox 0.3% are dry eyes, blurred vision, burning sensation, discomfort, stinging, eye pain, sensitivity to sunlight, tearing, unusual sensitivity to light, and redness.
